Made with love – an original jewellery board for Mother’s Day

It will be here again in a few days – Mother’s Day is just around the corner. If that’s just come as a bit of a shock to you, pay attention for a moment  We’ve got another great DIY idea for you, unless you’re still working hard at following our lastset of instructions. The best thing about our new Mother’s Day DIY creation is that it looks much more complicated than it really is. Once again, you don’t need very much. But see for yourself: What you need for a jewellery board: a piece of wood (the best thing is to ask about left-over pieces in your DIY store) brightly coloured plastic film or paint for the base a template (heart, cloud, star – the design should be simple) pins hammer pencil scissors thread First of all, you need to make the piece of wood look pretty. Depending on what state it’s in, or what colour you’re looking for, you could varnish, paint or cover the wood. We decided to cover ours with matt, grey plastic. This is simply pulled wet or dry over the piece of wood and carefully wrapped around the corners. Now we need to concentrate on the design. For Mother’s Day, we have chosen a lovely heart, drawn it and cut it out. This is then used as a template to make sure that all the pins go in the right place. Then comes the part when Mum should probably not be within hearing range if you’re trying to keep this a secret.  Just tap in the pins all around the outline of the heart – we left about 2 cm between the pins. Now tie the beginning of your thread around one of the pins and start to wrap the thread around the other pins to create a net. There’s no right and wrong here. Just keep on doing it until you like the pattern you’ve created. And there you have a lovely jewellery board for Mum! Necklaces can now be hung from the nails and drop earrings or even stud earrings can be looped into the network of threads. Maybe you’ll even decorate the jewellery board with an attractive necklace as a Mother’s Day gift?! We’ve picked out a few pieces of jewellery for you: With this sweet little floral necklace, you’re not only giving a piece of jewellery! The 5 cat’s eye blossoms will bring a touch of optimism, perspective and concentration as well. At least, these are the properties that are attributed to this gemstone. Going for rose gold – these three pieces of jewellery go with each other perfectly. Delicate and yet striking – all the little stones in this necklace will sparkle beautifully in the sun. Would you like to give Mum an elegant good luck charm to go with your home-made jewellery holder? You’ll find this delicate necklace with four-leaf clover in our stores. This filigree real silver chain with gilded ornament is an absolute highlight. We love it! With rhinestones or without? If you can’t decide, just wear both together on this necklace.

Taurus (21 April – 20 May)

Taurus personalities know exactly what they want and work systematically until their have achieved their goal. The best evidence of this is probably celebrity Taurus Jessica Alba. The pretty model captivated millions – including Quentin Tarantino – with her acting talents. She was born under this Earth sign and showed with „The Honest Company“ that Taurus doesn’t chase after trends – she sets them. The Taurus personality is passionate and as multifaceted as the gemstones that inspire their best qualities. Aventurine, for example, emphasises their enviable optimism and unmistakeable individuality, but agate is probably the most important gemstone for Taurus. It intensifies their logical thinking and can promote stability and balance without cramping their style: The exciting colour contrasts in these beads created by the natural graining of the agate reflect the contradiction between ambition and pragmatism that come together in the Taurus personality. This set proves that Taureans have exceptionally good taste – they are often found working in the fashion and perfume industry. But however successful they may become, Taureans always remain true to themselves and to their circle of friends.

With lots of heart – a DIY Mother’s Day gift

What does Mum always say when you ask her what she’d like? Something like: „Nothing! You keep your money for yourself, love“ or: „For you to stay healthy.“ or „Something home-made! From the heart“! 8 May is Mother’s Day, and that’s a major challenge for many people. Luckily, we’ve prepared something for you!  You don’t need to be a DIY professional for this lovely paper art, it won’t break the bank and your mother’s eyes will really light up when she sees it. Decorated with a pretty little piece of jewellery, it’ll make Mother’s Day perfect. You just need: a few sheets of coloured paper scissors pencil folding tool or ruler glue stick picture frame First draw and cut out hearts of different sizes, either freehand or using a heart template that you’ve downloaded. Then fold the hearts once in the middle using a folding tool or ruler. Now put together your little folded hearts so that they create blossoms and form a pattern. Let your imagination run wild! Once you’re certain that your work is finished, stick the blossoms firmly onto a base. Then put this into a deep picture frame and there you have it – a Mother’s Day gift made with love.  Alongside anything home-made, every mum also loves flowers and jewellery. We’ve combined both and would like to present our favourite Mother’s Day pieces to you – such as this bracelet made from facetted glass crystal stones. Sparkling blue shades in all their glory! Or what about this necklace with droplet-shaped elements in various shades of blue? Or maybe you could hide these little flower-trimmed stud earrings in the midst of your paper artwork? Mum won’t discover them straight away, and when she does, her eyes will light up all the more. Why not give the gift of time for a change? These dressy stud earrings along with a voucher for an evening for two in a bar or restaurant make the perfect Mother’s Day gift. So, have we been able to provide you with a little inspiration for your gift to your mum? Or do you have some creative ideas of your own? We look forward to your comments!

Aries (21 March – 20 April)

Anyone born under the sign of Aries sees the little stumbling blocks in life as exciting challenges, rather than obstacles. This ambitious attitude has certainly taken Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker a long way. The actress born under this Fire sign not only hits the mark time and again careerwise – the critics also love her stylishly confident appearance too. With her wide range of accessories and unmistakeable high heels, she’s always setting new trends – maybe rose quartz helps her here? Variety is the magic word when it comes to choosing the right jewellery. In everyday life, Aries personalities often have thousands of new ideas at the same time – and their fiery nature is also reflected in their jewellery. Because artistic creativity is also especially important to them, those born under Aries really love playful, creative accessories. That’s why rose quartz crystals in this original shape are just the right thing for Aries girls. The gemstones in the ring and earrings intensify love and sensitivity and cleverly keep any Aries in check!

Too beautiful to hide – sweet gift packaging for Easter

Do you still believe that the Easter Bunny brings along lots of presents in a basket on his back and hides them?  Then, sadly, we need to disappoint you 😉 If you don’t everything yourself… We’ve simply got creative ourselves and have put together some super-cute gift packages. With a small budget and a little bit of work, you can produce an Easter surprise that’s just too beautiful to hide. You don’t need much, and you probably have most of it at home anyway. A preserving jar, plastic animals from the toyshop, acrylic paints, brushes, hot-melt or instant adhesive, sticky tape and some nylon thread. Naturally, you’ll also need a lovely piece of jewellery that you want to give as a present and maybe a few Easter decorations. Firstly, stick the toy figure to the lid of the jar with glue. For Easter, of course, you might choose a bunny, a chicken or, like us, a squirrel. But as ever – let your creativity go wild.  Now paint the lid and the animal with a colour of your choice. We’ve chosen a mixture of pale Easter yellow and pink. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly – otherwise, you might get finger marks everywhere. Now you need a bit of skill. The little treasures that you’ve chosen for your favourite people now have to be suspended in the jars with transparent nylon thread. You should test this out beforehand to make sure the ties are the right length. The best way to do it is to make a loop and fix the ends to the lid using the sticky tape. Now you can decorate your gift however you like. Moss, little flowers or chocolate eggs – the choice is limitless. If you like, you could tie a bow around the jar too.  Even these elegant long earrings have found a place in our Easter jar. You could use the jars for sweet bracelets or little necklaces too. Try it out! Don’t you think it would be a shame to hide these jars away?

Nautical Look AHOY!

G’day! Red, white, blue and lots of gold – this colour combination takes us immediately on a holiday by the sea! We can see the harbour, ships and seagulls in our mind’s eye, and we’re longing for fish and chips. With our new „Nautical“ Collection marking the beginning of spring, we’re ready for a few days by the sea! Fine gold necklaces, anchor pendants, stripes and a maritime colour combination create a classic „sailor style“. For these blog pictures, we were naturally keen to exchange our photo studio at home for a real harbour. Hamburg Docks form the natural backdrop, of course. But see for yourself: Sailor’s knots everywhere – this short necklace made up of four strands of dark blue fabric with gold-tone elements completes the maritime look. Well-braided – this sweet bracelet adds a nautical touch. THE symbol for the perfect „nautical look“ is the anchor, of course. In gold or silver, it goes perfectly with blue and white stripes and red details. Iceberg ahead? With the cute blue and white hair band and sweet earrings, we’ve got our eye on everything and are guaranteed not to sink! 😉 It doesn’t always have to be dark blue and red. The nautical style works in delicate shades too. In proper style – cords, stripes and cognac-coloured trims make this backpack the perfect companion for a trip around the harbour. AHOY
